Musical background

Singer/Artist, Currently going under the name ‘SchoolboyError’

In Spring of 2008 sang on the soundtrack to Jimmy Murakami’s (The Snowman – 1982) ‘Sandpiper’.   This short animation was entered into the Galway & Cork Film Festivals, and shown at the annual music festival ‘Electric Picnic’. It is now working its way around Ireland in a cinema programme for children.

My cousin and best friend Stacey De-looze and I used to write together when we were a lot younger.  She is now working on her own stuff that is worth checking out.

I moved to Dublin in March 2007 to work with my uncle musically- Justin Manville and we spent 3 months in a studio recording his works for the album ‘Mothers Ghost’.  We had shows in The Sugar Club, Bewleys Cafe Theatre and Patrick Conways.  After 6 months we stopped working together and i decided to concentrate on my illustrations and exhibitions.

In february 2008 year vocal parts/harmonies were recorded for Portugal the Man’s ‘Censored Colors’.  (Mixed by Paul Kolderie & Adam Taylor) In Ireland and were originally emailed from Dublin. I have since done 3 european tours, (UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg & Italy) in February, October and June, and 2 U.S Tours ‘The gold tour’  in November 2008 and the Winter Tour in March 2009. Contributing Vocals/Tambourine to the mix.  It has been fun.

The most recent release is “The Satanic Satanist” which was finished in Boston early 2009 with Paul Kolderie, Adam Taylor & Anthony Saffery of Cornershop at Camp Street Studios.   Following recording in Jan and March i then spent spent the following 5 months with the guys touring (adding vocals, synth and tambo to the mix live) and mostly doing festivals. To mention a few :-  Bonnaroo 09 Manchester Tennessee, Hurricane and Southside Germany, and Lollapalooza 09 in Chicago.

I am currently working on my own stuff. Slowly but surely it will come together and whenst it is finally at a place that i am pleased about, i will unleash it upon you. :)

There are examples of my creations/vocals online here .

    hi zoe,

two questions: was it you singing in “the sun” of portugal the man and was it you singing at your gig at poolbar in austria this summer? I think yes, though not sure. If so, love your voice! how did you like our venue?

    keep it up!

  2. hey i have a question, you don’t have to reply if you don’t want to, but what i was wanting to know is, how did you meet up with portugal? or what is keeping you with them? you sound great with them, and i have checked out your music and i really like that too, pretty much portugal has changed my life, the way i look at life, the way i play music, everything and i love seeing you in the videos and hearing you on the pod so i was just curious, thanks

In response to both of you Zach & Chris,
I met John almost 4 years ago. We are both Illustrators & all kinds of art appreciators. A friend both turned us onto each others work, and this was from across the seas. We got to know each other like people do that have common interests and love for the things they create/share.
With the vast change in music and that whole process in the last few years alone, we were able to email vocals and such back and forth, thus, my contributions on Censored Colors were formed.
I had been trying to move to the U.S. for around ten years. and at the time i was finally granted my permanent residency, recording was about to start for SS and i was invited to be involved in that process once more.
As they say, the rest is history. I have done and seen a lot of things because of John, and the rest of Portugal. They are very sincere in their work and very wonderful people.

I’m excited to hear how your new music will sound :)
I love your contribution to Portugal. The Man, they are my favorite band and have been a huge inspiration for me. I was also curious as to how you ended up touring and recording with the band, thanks and good luck with everything!

I also met your voice with Portugal the man, and i just wanted to express how thankfull i am for that. You have a beautifull voice and am looking forward to listen to your new projects, but i am mostly interested on your artwork. I’m aspirating for an illustration/cartoonist profession and have found your work to be truly inspiring (as well as the wonderfull taste and likes i see on your webpage’s links).

Keep us up with that awesome creativity and beautiful voice of yours.
